As Fifth Pay Commission observed “Pay Commission is a peculiarly Indian institution”. Pay scales existed before the advent of Pay Commissions was the 1934 Scales. First Commission scales (known as ‘Prescribed Scales”) replaced the 1934 Scales. First Pay Commission : The first pay commission was constituted in 1946 with Srinivasa Varadacharia as Chairman. The commission’s recommendations were based upon the idea of “living wages” to the employees. The commission simplified the wage structure of Railway employees and number of scales was reduced to 30.
BHOPAL: Six people
were injured after a train rammed into a temple during shunting at the yard
attached to Gwalior railway station in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning.
While eyewitnesses claim Barauni - Gwalior Mail express train hit the temple
directly, police claim it first hit a tree which collapsed on temple injuring
its priest Ram Nivas Sharma, 50, and other people sitting the premises. Major
portion of the temple was destroyed following the incident.
"Accident occurred at around 7am while the coaches of the train were being
attached at the yard, beyond the platform No 4," said ASI K L Rai of
government railway police (GRP), Gwalior.
Rai said a pair of wheels slipped off the track during shunting that made the
train roll freely and astray.
